Talking Race for Planners Toolkit

Project Details

We created training and educational resources to support local jurisdictions' implementation of recent amendments to the Growth Management Act. The updated housing element requirements (HB1220) seek to identify racially disparate impacts, displacement, and exclusion in housing policies and regulations, begin to undo those impacts, identify areas at higher risk of displacement, and establish anti-displacement policies.

Uncommon Bridges prepared educational resources and made this presentation to support practitioners working across the state in planning at the intersections of race/social equity and public participation. The "Talking Race Toolkit" includes webinars, informational primers, and slide decks produced by Uncommon Bridges on the history of racially disparate housing impacts and approaches to equitable community engagement.
