Uncommon Bridges, in association with ECONorthwest and Arturo Vargas, completed a Strategic Plan for the City of McMinnville, Oregon: Mac-Town 2032. Our engagement included facilitating five focus groups in English and Spanish and two discussions between the City Council and the Project Leadership Team (consisting of City department directors and community stakeholders). This led to a unanimously approved final plan by the City Council in January 2019. Efforts to engage the broad community were made by sending out an online survey with more than 1,000 unique community responses, as well as organizing a large community charette attended by over 50 civic stakeholders. From these groups emerged a central vision, mission, and values for the City of McMinnville.
After extensive community engagement, Uncommon Bridges assisted staff and community workgroups on each strategic priority to develop goals and support objectives that would help the City achieve the vision inspired by the community in a manner consistent with its values. Uncommon Bridges then facilitated the development of tangible actions with detailed leads, staff support, stakeholders, financial resources, timelines, and success measures.
