City of Spokane Business Improvement Districts

Design worked with the City of Spokane to establish a Business Improvement District in Spokane’s East Sprague neighborhood. The district funds revitalization activities in the East Sprague historic commercial areas. The goal of the revitalization effort is to elevate the unique character of the district to foster a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented environment that leverages the eclectic mix of businesses and create shared places for community gathering.

BDS worked with local neighborhood organization to identify district boundaries, projects to implement, budgets, and assessment methodologies. BDS also conducted a robust public outreach effort to establish the district. The district assessment supports cleaning, safety, marketing, operations and maintenance, special events, and staffing in East Sprague.
